Job Overview
A Road Freight Operator is responsible for managing and coordinating the efficient
transportation of goods via roadways. This role ensures that shipments are planned,
executed, and delivered on time while maintaining high standards of safety,
cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Shipment Coordination: Plan, schedule, and manage road freight shipments.
Allocate vehicles and drivers based on shipment requirements.
- Route Optimization: Identify and plan the most efficient delivery
routes.Monitor traffic, weather, and other factors affecting transit times.
- Customer Communication: Serve as the primary contact for clients regarding
shipment updates and inquiries.Provide regular status updates and resolve delivery
issues promptly.
- Fleet Management Support: Coordinate with the fleet management team for
vehicle maintenance and availability. Track and monitor vehicle locations using GPS
systems.
- Problem-Solving: Address delivery disruptions, delays, or issues with
cargo. Implement solutions to minimize impact on clients and operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in logistics or supply chain is a
plus).
- Experience in road freight operations or logistics preferred.
- Strong understanding of transport regulations and freight management.
- Proficiency in logistics software and GPS tracking tools.
